How should I prepare for my first treatment?

Interior Designing

Each client will want to consider hydration and hydrotherapy before their chosen treatment.

I drink " a lot" of water can mean different things to each individual. On a daily basis each person should drink half their body weight in ounces. Begin to consume water before a treatment, and continuing to consume water post treatment. This helps the body to flush toxins, hydrate the tissues, and limits aches post treatment.

Bathing before your treatment and applying a preferred natural oil, begins the relax effect, and  preps the tissue in preparation for therapy.

What should I expect from my first session?

You should expect personal and tailored care.

Each session will be designed to meet the goals you are looking to achieve,

whether it be relaxation, pain relief, a sense of well being, or specific therapeutic work.

Each session will be professionally performed with modesty draping,

skilled technique, and a focus on facilitating healing and peace.

What should I wear during a session? (Questions about modesty)

A clients comfort and preference for dress will always be honored.

Clients should feel free to discuss their questions and needs regarding dress and draping with the therapist for any session.

Typically massage services are performed with a client fully undressed and appropriately draped. A client will be covered by a sheet and blanket, and only the areas being worked at a single time, will be undraped.

Clients may prefer their lower undergarments on for comfort, modesty, cycle needs, etc.

Considerations clients should make regarding dress and modesty are the areas of focus they may want worked For example, If an individual wants hamstring work, lower undergarments may hinder the depth or technique when working hamstrings and quads.

Jewelry is another consideration. If a client has on personal ornaments, a therapists will work around the jewelry. However, jewelry often hinders good body function and bodywork technique.

Dangling jewelry should not be worn for safety. Being free of bracelets and anklets helps for the flow of massage technique and the flow of body blood and lymph systems. Necklaces may pinch the skin or fine chains be broken during neck work. Belly beads can also restrict circulation and full muscle strokes on the back.

For jewelry that is religious or sentimental such as wedding bands and wedding necklaces, the client should decide whether to wear them in regard to their personal customs. Medical bracelet removal is up to the client, but medical necklaces should be removed for the session and promptly put back on post session.

Especially modest clients should consider that wearing upper undergarments hinders bodywork to the back, pecs, and creates an immodest situation for therapists trying to work around or under those undergarments. They also restrict circulation of blood and lymph, which is a positive benefit of bodywork.

Massage is a clinical science and art, and as such the therapist will treat the client with dignity and respect, and handle the bodywork session with professionalism.

At no time should a client solicit a therapist for sexual favors or interaction. **Any sexual or inappropriate requests, conversation, or behavior will terminate the session.** MTM reserves the right to stop any session and refuse future booking under these circumstances.
